2018 Brings Changes to Benefit and Work Incentive Amounts!
The Social Security Administration has announced important cost-of-living adjustments (COLA) for 2018. Social Security and SSI beneficiaries will see a 2.0 percent increase to benefit amounts effective January, 2018. This is the biggest increase since 2012.
Please see below for other 2018 adjustments important to Social Security and SSI beneficiaries:
- 2018 SSI Federal Benefit Rate: $750 per month Individual or $1,125 per month Eligible Couple
- 2018 SSI Student Earned Income Exclusion (SEIE): $1,820 per month, up to $7,350 annually
- 2018 Trial Work Period (TWP) level: $850 per month
- 2018 Substantial Gainful Activity (SGA) level: $1,180 per month (non blind) or $1,970 per month (blind)
