It was no great surprise to learn in the days after the 2024 election that the commissioner of the Social Security Administration, former Maryland governor Martin O’Malley, stepped down from his position in readiness for the in-coming lunacy of the Trump Administration.
It is somewhat disturbing that the woman appointed to temporarily replace him has now also left the agency. Michelle King, who was a career employee at the SSA, has chosen to retire from the agency rather than deal with the patently immoral requests from doge (Elon Musk’s fabricated department of government efficiency) for sensitive information about Social Security beneficiaries.
Her position has been filled by another long-term SSA employee in Leland Dudek. If Trump has his way, and there appears to be no stopping the Wotsit from getting what he wants, Dudek will be keeping the seat warm for the president and CEO of Fiserv, Frank Bisignano.
In case you were wondering, Bisignano oversaw the termination of hundreds of jobs at both his current and former businesses, and he’s a Republican who with his wife has contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to Trump’s campaigns for re-election.
