In what has become an expected response time from the Social Secuity Administration, the agency has announced it is now responding to President Biden’s January 2021 Executive Order on Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities through the Federal Government.

The SSA has noticed a decline in SSI applications in certain communities that meet the remit of the executive order and has begun work on increasing its outreach to individuals and groups. The idea being to make them aware of their options, but not necessarily to provide increased assistance or streamlining of the application process.

The outreach has taken the form of the usual modern methods of communication, so there’s a public service announcement you can look at on You Tube; radio advertisements; flyers and ads in bus stops and other, presumably well-trafficked, locations.

For those who have access to computers, they can see what this is all about at www.ssa.gov/ssi. Others can hopefully get the answers they need by calling the standard 1-800-772-1213 number.
