Social Security recently announced through their own blog the arrival of a standardized Benefits Verification letter. This has always been the simplest way of verifying your eligibility for benefits and the income you are receiving. The new and improved format will still include all the vital details of your SSI, Social Security and even Medicare eligibility and promises some new personally identifying features which reduce the risk of fraud or misuse. It would be hoped that the standardization should make the verification process smoother for all beneficiaries and even for those who are in the application process or who are no longer receiving benefits.

Although the agency is still promoting its mySocial Security accounts as one option for beneficiaries and representative payees to access the new forms you can still request them through the national 1-800-772-1213 number, or by calling your local SSA office.
