In line with much that has happened around the globe Social Security announced and promptly carried out its plan to close its doors to the public at each field office in the country. As of March 17 there’s been no chance to address staff in person but that doesn’t mean that the offices are closed. You can still call the national number and each field office is conducting business with the public over the phone. Local office numbers have tended to be rather hard to track down when conducting a general web search but to find your local office’s number you can go on-line here https://secure.ssa.gov/ICON/ic001.action#officeResults

The agency have also recommended that people conduct their business on-line at the ssa.gov website or through one’s personal mysocialsecurity account.
