In another move that seems to have been instituted by the new Social Security Commissioner, Martin O’Malley Social Security is asking all of us who set up regular old MySSA accounts before September 2021 to set up a new one using a different format.

Before too long (SSA is rather vague on the cut off point at this time) you’ll have to have an account that ends in either login.gov or ID.me.

This all seems to be another bureaucratic move designed to frustrate, especially for those who struggled to get through the process of signing up for the original accounts, but we’ve been assured that this all part of a more secure and safe set up determined to protect us from scammers and their ilk.
