Workshop Description:
This workshop will (1) Discuss how poverty, financial hardship, dependency on social security, and financial exclusion impact the wellness and recovery of individuals, and (2) Introduce economic empowerment strategies and tools to promote financial wellness. Participants will learn how to engage individuals in identifying financial goals and empower individuals by supporting them to navigate and utilize existing income-increasing, asset-building, and financial services and supports. Participants will leave with usable tools and links to national and local resources.
This workshop will be presented by Oscar Jiménez-Solomon, Research Scientist & Coordinator at the NYS Center of Excellence for Cultural Competence and is hosted by the Maryland Benefits Counseling Network.
