It may not exactly feel like the most wonderful time of the year as we deal with another upsurge of the still deadly, and now rather tedious, Covid 19, but here we are. Despite all that we’re dealing with, we at MDBCN would like to wish one and all the very best of luck and good cheer during the holiday season. May we all look forward to the new year with hope, perhaps tempered, but still present.

To look to the past to gain strength for the future we need only look at the world in 1940 with Europe at war with itself and America still trying to recover from the ravages of the great depression. With so much for the nation to handle President Franklin Roosevelt, in his speech for the Mobilization for Human Needs charity campaign, reminded listeners that

“Human Kindness has never weakened the stamina nor softened the fiber of a free people. A nation does not have to be cruel to be tough.”

It is to be hoped that in 2022 the nation as a collective will make itself aware that such a simple thing could make such a difference to all.
